Beneath our feet

There is an excellent site with information about the inside of the earth. It is part of Enchanted Learning and called INSIDE THE EARTH. You are going to use this site to find information about the layers of soil, rock and metal under our feet.
Go to the INSIDE THE EARTH page and use it to find the information you need about the names of the layers and what each is like - what it's made of, what its temperature is, etc.

The USGS site also has useful information that might help you understand about the layers inside the earth and how they affect our lives on the surface of the earth. You should also look at Structure of the Earth from the Southern California Integrated GPS.
